School & College Accommodation 2013

August 21st, 2012 · No Comments · edinburgh

This year at Edinburgh Festival Apartments we have seen an increase in bookings from school theatre groups and college groups traveling in Scotland from places as close as Dundee and as far as Martha s Vineyard in the USA.

Throughout the year most of our large Edinburgh Apartments and Edinburgh Townhouses are filled with groups of girls or lads on hen and stag parties in Edinburgh for usually the Friday and Saturday night.

However throughout the Summer our Edinburgh Townhouse has been filled with a group of cyclist who cycled all the way from Birmingham, there were 14 cyclists which was great just two to each bedroom, the large hallway downstairs was big enough to accommodate all the bikes whilst the cyclist chilled out before heading home.

The group have already booked to come again next year at the start of their trip and stay once again in our Edinburgh Townhouse.

Because some of our team at Festival Apartments also like cycling we were able to help the group decide where they could go some short cycle rides and which route would be a good one to do next year.

Later in the Summer we at Edinburgh Festival Apartments have had the pleasure to welcome a few different School groups.
As we all know the whole world has gone health and safety crazy so it was quite unlike any other bookings where we had to ensure every aspect of health and safety was covered for the school group and that each pupil had exactly the same standard of accommodation as each other. We have two very large Edinburgh apartments at 16 & 31 Grove Street one sleeping 20 and the other sleeping 16. With the school group of 25 we allocated No.31 Edinburgh Festival Apartment to the Girls which meant they were all in the same house with two teachers having one of the two twin rooms each and the girls sleeping in the three large bedrooms with 5 in each bedroom, this house also benefits from 5 bathrooms, a large lounge and kitchen with a washing machine and tumble dryer – a must when you are away for week. Across the road the 12 boys and two teachers were equally as well accommodated in No.16 Grove Street Edinburgh Apartment where the two teachers shared a twin en-suite room and the 12 boys each shared the other 3 en-suite bedrooms. This Edinburgh Apartment also benefits from a large kitchen / diner with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Over on George IV Bridge Edinburgh Apartment we had a Theatre Group from Germany who stayed for two weeks whilst taking part in the Jazz Festival. This apartment is amazingly central which meant there was no issue for the group getting home after a late night visit to the Jazz Bar or any of the bars and clubs in the nearby Grass market.

Directly after the group had left no sooner had our super duper cleaning team been back in than our next Theater group from Martha’s Vineyard arrived to take residency of the George IV Edinburgh Apartment for the next two weeks. By this point Edinburgh was bursting at the seems with tourist arriving to see the Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle. Our guests at George IV Bridge Apartment benefit from being able to see the fantastic firework display at Edinburgh Castle every evening directly after the Military Tattoo.

At Festival Apartments we cater for small groups too and our two bedroom apartment on the Royal Mile – 17 Fish-market Close has been booked up all month by two comedians playing at the Udder-belly which is just a short walk away for them every day.

Next year 2013 here at Edinburgh Festival Apartments we already have bookings for school groups coming Monday to Friday taking advantage of our superb week night rates of just £20 per person in our amazing Edinburgh Townhouse and who are taking time to take in the more cultural and historical side of the city. Because of our local knowledge and our contacts we are able to offer the groups great walking guides with genuinely funny historical stories allowing the tours to be fun as well as tutorial.

Throughout the year we have learned with these large groups the kind of cooking utensils they need – large oven trays, massive sturdy, nonstick pans, 4 slice toasters, dishwashers and the most important essential item seen as almost important as having an inside loo – yes you’ve guessed it WIFI – our travelling guests no mater whether is the toots wanting to watch cartoons, the teenagers wanting You Tube or music channels or the silver surfers wanting to check the weather WIFI is something all of us have come to expect as the number 1 essential item we just cannot live without for even just one night at our Edinburgh Festival Apartments!
