Rain rain go away in Edinburgh

October 12th, 2011 · edinburgh

Come back in January. What a miserable start to the day. On the the other hand only 2 more days until the weekend WOO.

Walked into the office this morning and it was lovely and warm. That always makes you feel better at work when your office isn’t colder than outside. It just makes you smile and lets you know that today isn’t going to be all that bad. But i have to admit- rolling out of bed this morning wasn’t that easy as it usually is. The alarm went off, so i rolled over turned it off and went back under my covers for another 5 minutes. I could hear the rain battering against the window and the wind was wheezing through the air. Boke. Did anyone else feel the same?

Plenty of things to keep the mind active today , and NO I’m not talking about those naked guys that sometimes walk past the windows giving us in the office a little treat. I’m talking about how Gosia and I are having to organise some stuff for our ” Fake” hen party.  ” What the hell is she talking about ” aha, well we are up dating our other website ( henedinburgh.com) with new videos and photos so that we can show you guys and new clients what it is that you are actually purchasing.  Sounds better than just a picture and a description eh…. videos too :)

Busy bees at Festival Apartments Edinburgh

October 11th, 2011 · edinburgh

Its past 5 and most bees have gone home but not us at festival apartments. We are still working away.

Just had a lovely man from Liverpool come through our doors for 2 days. He is working on Waverly station so that’s rather exciting. His accent is very amusing.  Would love to just sit and get him to say things but a bee must work. But i still get a little giggle when he comes in to ask a question :)

Was updating our website earlier and trying to find new descriptions for apartments. The starting apartments i talk about how many bathrooms we have in the townhouse so i open it with ” Got a weak bladder?  Bladder like a Sieve when been drinking?”  Well since writing that -  i cant stop going to the toilet. What a pickle.

20 days until Halloween

October 11th, 2011 · edinburgh

20 days until Halloween but yet it was a scary day stepping into the office.  Yesterday I ( Lauri ) couldn’t make it into the office because my parents didn’t leave me pennies for the bus so that means i couldn’t make it into the office at all ( i don’t drive :( ) . Eeek. The office seemed to be okay with it, but everyone knows that sinking feeling you get when you cant get into the office because of a stupid reason :( . I know you are sitting there thinking ” she still has to get pennies from her parents for the bus ” but i have just graduated from college and trying to pay bills that i haven’t been able pay is horrible but hey we have all been there right ?

To make matters worse when i stepped in there were 2 strange people sitting in the room. No one said a word and no one made eye contact, it was very strange. Gosia acted normal so i knew it was nothing to do with us. Cheque books lying on the tabel and the pin dropped, Ian’s accountants. Phew. Thought i was getting sacked for not having money. Just joking.

Its another friday in edinburgh

October 7th, 2011 · edinburgh

Snow up north, Rain/sun/wind in Edinburgh, Sunshine down south. Winter is fast approaching but that doesn’t stop Edinburgh’s busy night life at the weekend. Wrap up warm for outside then take it all off inside. Nothing will stop our Hen Parties / Stag Parties having the time of their lives in Edinburgh this October.

Its been a busy week for us at the office with having people from Greece, Australia, China and America. Its great meeting new people come to Edinburgh for their – Holidays, Short get a ways, Business meetings and back packers. We are happy to help with any inquires – even if we don’t know where it is we are happy to take a stab at Google maps and get a rough idea.

If you’re thinking its all work and no play for us at the office well you are wrong. With having apartments across the road from our office we get a few giggles with naked men walking past their windows, people working out and couples having fun :p

The standard of edinburgh apartments is consistently improving.

May 17th, 2010 · edinburgh

With the downturn in recent years of the buy to let market – landlords of apartments and rental properties have discovered an alternative to renting out their apartments long term to students or professionals for six month periods. The attraction of short term Edinburgh apartments rentals is fuelled in part by the growth in demand for apartments in Edinburgh for weekend breaks – family holidays and business trips. The huge international appeal of Edinburgh as a tourist capital for both travellers from the uk and abroad has increased the demand for short term self catering apartment accommodation in Edinburgh the Scottish capital. With the aforementioned buy to let frenzy which had taken place over the last decade many landlords were finding it difficult to find good tenants and meet spiralling cost.

The answer was to set up a holiday rental apartment which required a little more work but would result in a higher short term gain. The difference between a normal rental flat in Edinburgh and a holiday apartment in Edinburgh is subtle but significant. For the most part a holiday apartment must meet a higher standard when considering fitments and fitting.

What would pass as a bog standard kitchen which would be perfectly fine for practical use day to day would need upgrading to appear more modern and included all the items an apartment resident might need when cooking all types of cuisine.

The bathrooms would need to be of a higher standard modern clean and bright. The style and quality of furniture usually found in Edinburgh holiday apartments would be relatively new and modern with sofas being made from leather for a more quality appearance and to stand the test of time.

The included bedding which holiday apartment guests would expect is the only other major difference. Clean laundry and towels would be expected – clean and pressed before the arrival of new guests into the apartment.

May 13th, 2010 · edinburgh

An apartment in edinburgh was not the chosen destination for a hen party who origonally had booked a pre wedding jaunt to Magaluff in Spain. The Newcastle based band of lively ladies had planned the trip to the spanish resort months in advance. None however had anticipated that the reality would be spending a week enjoying the sites and sounds of downtown edinburgh as the occupied one of our Lothian Road Edinburgh Apartments. The shocking scenario unfolded as of all things an Icelandic volcano erupted rendering flights in and out of the uk grounded. The ladies were made aware of the cancellation of their travel plans a couple of days before departure to the sunshine. Newcastle airport was closed for the duration and an alternative destination for the fired up and excited hens needed to be found. None of the group members were intending to cancel the party – just change the place it would happen. It was at this point that we at Edinburgh Apartments recieved the call requesting accommodation for 18 ladies checking in on a monday afternoon staying through till friday. A very unusual request due to the our edinburgh apartments for large groups being empty normally durring the week. Edinburgh hen party groups only want weekend stays. This lot were coming on monday and leaving on friday.

And a fine bunch they were – young and old – but all happy and not in the mood to have a volcano put a dampner on things.

That week – the volcano week – saw many a stranded hen and stag party board the train from a closed uk airport and make for Edinburgh. Guys from Manchester – Girls from liverpool – many from aberdeen and Glasgow. The promise of parties planned for dublin and galway having been dashed.

So Edinburgh Apartments came to the rescue – the town welcomed the unexpected guests with open arms and I am sure sent many away with happy memories and a fantastic first  impression of this great Scottish capital. Maybe next time they will not entertain a foriegn desination for their celebrations and booked edinburgh first to avoid disappointment maybe caused by a freak occurence such as a British Airways strike or somthing else.

New Apartments in Edinburgh coming online for August.

March 23rd, 2010 · Uncategorized

New landlords are always welcome – the sheer number of enquiries for edinburgh apartments this year is overwhelming – its nice to be popular but it is important to be able to give the customers what they want. With limitations on availability due to incresed demand – not all dates requested are available. The more new landlords who sign onto our system the better – especially the tradtional edinburgh festival apartments area of our business. The demand for edinburgh apartments is large so our catalogue of available apartments needs to be larger more numerous and more comprehensive in their configuration.

The closer the accommodation is to the city centre and festival venues the better – apartments in edinburgh within a short walk to the castle the royal mile and princes street are always the favourites.

The greatest demand is for the group accommodation apartments in edinburgh – for both the festival performers and the visitors these apartments are large spacious affairs with single bed sleeping arrangements. Ideal for same sex groups – theatre groups or families travelling and staying in the scottish capital.
