Edinburgh Hogmanay Line Up 2013

November 14th, 2012 · No Comments · edinburgh

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Bash have announced their line up for 2012 / 2013 New Year and our phones have been ringing off the hook at Edinburgh Festival Apartments.

We still have some availability for some really fantastic apartments like Castle Snug which sleeps four people or our amazing Edinburgh party townhouse that sleeps 22 people in the 7 en-suite bedrooms, the house is in the West End so an ideal location for people attending the street party.

Please don’t think you only need to come to Edinburgh Apartments for just Hogmanay – there is a reason all our apartments can only be booked for two or three nights – we know you will want to be here longer!

Everything kicks off on the 30th of December with the infamous Son et Lumiere torch lit parade and fireworks display which starts at The Royal Mile at Parliment Square, this is a FREE event and you can buy a torch of which the proceeds go to charity  it really is very moving to take part in the walk which heads down The Mound, along Princes Street and ends up at Calton Hill – this is spectacular to watch from the bottom of the Mound as the torches create a river of fire leading to the top of Calton Hill where the traditional bonfire of a ship takes place to see out any badness from the year.

This is a free event at 7.45pm – torches can be purchased in advance for £6 each.

On the 31st of December the streets are blocked off to create several outdoor concert venues headlined this year by Scotland’s very own Simple Minds at The Concert in the Gardens.

Monday 31 December 2012… into the New Year
Stage live from 8.30pm – 1am
West Princes Street Gardens

On the 1st of January 2013 – The Looney Dook takes place in South Queensferry where hundreds of people run in to the water in fancy dress costumes to start the year a fresh!

So as you can see there is loads going on every day and that’s not to mention the thousands of bars, clubs, hotels and restaurants all over the city next to our Edinburgh Apartments that you can enjoy yourselves bringing in the New Year.
