In the winter Edinburgh’s a great place to visit and there are plenty of ongoing activities. Edinburgh’s Christmas Winter Wonderland is just one of them. Located in the Princes Street Gardens ( Waverly station end), there is ice skating for adults and children and a Belgian Spiegeltent to entertain you for many hours. There’s an area on the ice rink where parent can show their kids (under 7) how its done.
There’s also a snow slide and snowball cars- plenty of snow related things to do.
