Boost your immune system

Now that the winter weather has changed many of us are catching colds and coughs.  Here at Edinburgh Festival Apartments we really cant be off work at this time of year because we have so many visitors coming for just a couple of nights.

To keep us all tip top I have been looking at ways to boost your immune system without spending a small fortune on vitamins.

1. Put some color on your plate.

Eat nine to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.

2. Salt Bath reviver.

Put a small tub of Epsom salts in a hot bath and it will release all your toxins, you will have an amazing sleep and wake up refreshed.

3. Discover the wonders of working out.
Get moving for 30 minutes a day, even a brisk walk will do.

4. Sleep

Get your 8 hours a night – at least !

5. Up your emotional quotient.

Pay attention to your psychological health, if you feel down, do something to make “you” feel better!

6. Listen to your body and learn your family history.

Study your family tree to target your disease prevention.

7. Wet your whistle.

Drink eight to 10 8-ounce glasses of water and one cup of tea a day.

8. Remember, variety is the spice of life.

Eat a wide variety of foods, chilli is great for the immune system.

9. Be a fat detective.

Eat the good fats, not the bad. Avocado is a good fat and is yummy with beetroot and rocket leaves for a nice winter salad with warm crusty bread.

10. Exercise kitchen care.

Keep everything clean and free from germs.

11. Hold hands with a friend.

Be social, stay connected, have fun, make time for a giggle with your friends.

12. Celebrate your sensual side.

Have great sex and lots of it !

13. Discover the dynamic D

Take 400 IU of vitamin D a day.

14. Seek out serenity.

Practice stress reduction techniques.

15. Turn on the magic of touch.

Get a massage, or take time out and give each other a massage to stay connected.

16. Tap the poet within.

Keep a journal or write some funky poems about the day.

17. Embrace cleanliness.

Brush up on good hygiene, make yourself feel wonderful and fresh.

18. Practice an ounce of prevention.

Get appropriate vaccinations and make doctor and dentist appointments.

19. Send those sneezes packing.

Protect yourself against allergies.

20. Treat yourself to the miracle herbs.

Try herbs to heal and protect your body.

I am going to try out as many of these tips as possible over the next month so I feel tip top for Christmas Day :-)
